Parking Sensor Systems utillise a set of sensors (eyes) that can be fitted to the rear or front bumpers of the vehicle. The rear parking sensors are automatically activated when reverse gear is selected. An audible indication is given every time the sensors are selected to inform that that they are working.
The eyes sense the proximity of an object up to 1.5 meters away from the rear or front of the vehicle and compute the exact position of the object. Different audible indications are given depending on which of the three pre-determined distance warning zones the object is detected in. Slow beeps are sounded when within the 1.5 to 0.9 meter zone and rapid beeps when within the 0.9 to 0.45 meter zone. When within less than half a metre (0.45m) of the object the audible warning sounds constantly indicating the need to move with extreme caution.
The system we fit incorporates an exclusive facility called Digital Signal Measurement (DSM) technology, an important feature particularly for the recreational type vehicles fitted with tow hitches, bicycles, spare wheels etc. The technology enables the system to automatically dicern between items that are an integral part of the vehicle and obstacles that it is meant to be detecting.
